A school is a building that has four walls with tomorrow inside. -Lon Watters

With the economic and cultural struggles, hope recedes. Outlooks are uncertain and our leaders falter to make things better due to political rhetoric and positioning. This cultural and economic "cliff" is especially felt in smaller, more rural communities of Wisconsin. But let's vigorously grasp at the hope we can find in order to make the world better than how we found it. The solution is to invest in things closest to us; in our children and in our communities. Such an investment offers vitality to our future.

"It's Okay ...Mailing" Errors

Some may have received an "It's Okay To Still Vote No" mailing in their mailboxes recently with some misleading statements. If the referendum is affirmed it will not cost taxpayers MORE than the plan last time. The referendum plan is to increase technology spending but only for 7 years. After 7 years $0.41 per $1,000 away from the taxpayers and the total tax impact remaining would be around $0.44 per $1,000 for another 13 years (if all referendum questions are answered). This is about half of the previous plan presented to the community in November. The district heard the community about separating the referendum into different sections and has done that according some wants and needs. The district has also made some major cuts to the remodeling projects to alleviate some of the cost.  Throughout the development of these plans, I believe, the school board and the community members, want Pulaski to remain a high achieving school system.

If you have questions, there are places to get informed. Visit https://sites.google.com/a/pulaskischools.org/pcsd-referendum/ for more information or attend the referendum social with district personnel on Wednesday, March 20 at 5 pm.

Pulaski's Community

http://www.fox11online.com/dpp/sports/high_school/communities-send-off-basketball-teams-for-2013-wiaa-boys-state-tournament

Great article showcasing our communities investment and care for our students! As a point of clarification, the recent trip to Madison was not just about basketball. But it was more important a celebration of the culmination of investments by our Pulaski community. Parents, grandparents, coaches, teachers and community members have offered encouragement and resources to mold and encourage the children of our community to give their best. It is great to see it all come together on a bigger stage like the Kohl Center in Madison and for Pulaski to display the talents of the dance team, the band, the Pulaski news, the academic success and the sportsmanship of the entire student body and community. On a daily basis, so many invest their time, talents and resources to keep our village and greater community strong and growing. Voting YES on April 2, can keep our community moving forward.

2012-2013 Technology Video From District Model Classrooms

This YouTube video offers Pulaski students perspective of technology. During its taping, devices were limited to mainly model classrooms. The model classroom and the district's commitment to mold students into digital citizens, have sparked the staff to more fully integrate technology in everyday lessons and challenge students to be efficient technology "users" rather than simply technology "consumers." Pulaski schools are primed and ready to continue integrating technology in order to further the evolution of public schooling.

School Board Meeting March 6

Tonight's school board meeting began their discussions regarding next year's budget. State government is offering little to no aid increases for next year. Almost thirty ways were discussed to trim the budget in attempts to meet the shortfall, many would hinder the GREAT things happening in the schools.

A YES vote for the four referendum questions, not only allows for financial space for the schools to continue doing GREAT things but also would allow the district improvements that would help attract potential students and community members.
